I finally went to the carpenter Papa told me will get the work done. He didn’t seems like he could do much but from his designs outside, he seemed like he could get the work done. So I went to him and said Sir, I came here because I was told you could do what I want. He looked at me rather weirdly probably wondering ‘where is she from?’ and replied ‘what is it that I can do for you?. His English was rather good, you could tell he was educated. ‘This I said and showed him the design on my phone. ‘I can’t do it, I don’t have the time’ he replied after looking at it. Adamantly I told him, Sir I was told you could do this for me that is why I came, the person who told me so can never lie. He looked at me again with curiosity this time wanting to know who told me such nonsense. ‘Who told you to come and meet me? God I replied with confidence. God asked me to come and meet you. ‘Kaii this pikin don crase he said under his breath as he laughed. ‘So God no longer has anything to do other than to refer me to you? You nor well, abeg dy commot for my store I nor get your time this afternoon. Who do you want to deceive? You think I don’t know God doesn’t care about someone like me? Let me tell you something, people like me don’t exist before God. So you see ehn go back and tell whoever sent you here that God doesn’t care about me’.
Why do you think God doesn’t love you or cares less about you and anything that pertains to you? I asked. He laughed, my sins are too great, I have done too much bad that God wouldn’t be interested in me. I haven’t done anything that he would consider pleasing to Him, so God doesn’t care about me. I barely go to church, I don’t pray, I drink, in fact my sins are so great that He wouldn’t want to look at me.
This is what so many people around the world think about God and the sacrifice that has been made for us. People think they are too unclean to relate to God and are yet to meet up with the criteria that religion has set in order to become accepted by God. But we forget that Jesus while He was on earth was regarded as the “friend of sinners” because He spent his time visiting them in their houses and wining and dining with them. The Jews were perplexed as to why the Messiah was mixing with the unclean crowd but they didn’t know that He loved these ones too and came for them also.
Joh 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him”
His compassion and love for the world and all that were in it ( you and I) drove him to come down to earth to help the lost find their way and redeem the image of who we are that has been lost in past times. A reminder that we are the redeemed of the Lord. A reminder that we are no bound slaves but sons and daughters of the Father. A reminder that we have been molded and created in His image and likeness and we are His reflect and express image, His own desire. He had loved us before the foundation of the world while we were yet “Logos” till we were birthed here and He still loves us even more and forever, for His love for us is unconditional and stretches to eternity beyond the limitations of time.
Consider the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin and the prodigal son. He left the ninety-nine behind to go back for that one that has lost his/her way and and is no longer conscious of Identity. He did all he could to get that one and when he finally found him, ooh he prepared a great feast and invited all his friends to come rejoice with him. That’s how the heaven and it’s host rejoice when you finally see yourself as sons and rightful heirs to the kingdom.
The father of the prodigal son was waiting for when his son would come back. When he finally did, he wasn’t interested in the sorry speech the son had prepared to say, all he knew was that his son finally realized that he has a ‘father’ who has got everything and would accept him back. He realized he had a ‘Father’. You have a ‘Father’ that never leaves “the one” behind.
We are His beloved children in whom He is well pleased. We are not trying to gain favor with him or trying to please Him, we already have by virtue of Christ death on Calvary. We have been glorified just as Christ is glorified. As He is so are we. Never see yourself as too dirty or too messed up to be considered by God. He loves you so much and looks forward to the day you will finally realize you have a Father and come to him. He awaits the day you will take his hands and let him show you how much he loves you. He loves us all equally, he has no favorite. You are his favorite too.
2Co 6:18 “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty”.
Gal 4:6-7 “Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir”.
