God of All Comfort
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
From our passage; we see the heart of God revealed to us as He is shown to us as “The Father of Compassion” and “The God of All Comfort”. He comforts us in our troubles. He holds our hands and guides us through the darkness. He listens when we need to vent our frustrations. He’s always there. He’s always available. A question then: seeing as we have an ever compassionate Father who is constantly comforting us, why are people still worried? Why are people still fearful? Simply because in one way or the other we are not receiving the comfort He gives us. We are literally deciding in one way or the other not to receive the assurance He gives. Yet, it is through the assurance He gives that we would be able to rest in the first place. So then the consequence of rejecting His peace in one form or the other is that we became restless and chaos seems to be all around us. The beauty of all of this is that He’s still here with you right now, ready to comfort you as the God of all comfort. The question is “will you receive, He gives peace today?”
