We need to see our inability
John 6:5 – 7 [KJV]
Jn 6:5 When Jesus then lifted up [his] eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
Jn 6:6 and this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
Jn 6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
The story of how Jesus fed the five thousand was a very key one in trying to help us understand that God desires that we acknowledge our inability and let His ability prevail. The interaction between Jesus and Philip before the miracle took place tells a lot about this.
In verse 5 of the key scripture, we see Jesus trying to ask Philip for a solution to the feeding problem, but verse 6 explains that He wasn’t really looking for a solution from Philip, but was testing Him. The test wasn’t to see if Philip was brilliant, it wasn’t even to see if Philip would give the right answer, because am sure Jesus probably knew the answer Philip was going to give. But the test was supposed to make Philip acknowledge his inability, and depend solely on the master Jesus; I am pretty sure at this point Philip was anticipating what the master had up His sleeve.
Always learn to acknowledge that you really are helpless and let Jesus do His thing. He always does amazing things, miracles that we can’t explain, but can only attribute to God. Lets see how unable we are to do, and simply let Him do.
