How should we use the name of Jesus?
John 14: 13 – 14: 13And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
Asking in Jesus’s name today has become somewhat of a religious pass time. People now believe using the name of Jesus solely depends on actually saying “in the name of Jesus”, and sometimes lose faith when a prayer or statement of affirmation is said without attaching that phrase to the end of the statement; now, am not saying it’s wrong, but using it as the only metric to judge if an activity is in Christ’s name is extremely carnal to say the least. This is because saying the phrase without understanding what Christ’s authority means today is almost a waste of time.
We need to understand that when Christ died, He said that all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him, and now we have been commissioned by Him to tell the world about Him, so simply put you are not from here (planet earth), but you represent a kingdom, whom Christ is the head, and as a representative, you have access to use authority given to you by your master (Jesus). Use Christ’s authority that has been given to you. Command devils out and heal sick people; simply understand that you have Christ’s authority so when you act to do his work, you act in His name.
#pray Lord teach me to recognize my authority in you, and to always be ready to use it to help and be a blessing.
