Always Remember, “You Are Light”
Matthew 5:14-16 – 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Matthew 5 is a very popular chapter of the Bible. The first teaching by Jesus recorded in Matthew, and the New Testament. After Christ declared us blessed, he declared us “Salt of the earth” after this, he declared us “THE light of the world”. I want to draw our attention to the next sentence before I proceed… “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid” I know many of us sing this song… 🎶 On a hill, faraway…stood an old rugged cross…
Our saviour, Christ was on that cross… on that hill. David saw this revelation to come and knew where to look to for help… Psalm 121 Vs 1… Christ had to be crucified on a hill, for all to see. On that hill, he was no longer hidden but revealed saviour to all men.
You, being in Christ …is a city on a hill, you cannot be the hid – you’re the light! That’s why God has put us believers on a peak, we cannot be under. Stop trying to shy away, don’t say I don’t want people to know me, people must know you and know the father through you. God has not made you light to hide under – Vs 15 but to put you up, not just for display but for enlightening others – Vs 16. Don’t be shy of your identity – you’re THE light of the whole world. Don’t say that you’re A light, and if you don’t shine someone else will… No! you’re THE light. Shine on!
#Pray Father, help me show forth my light that all may see you.
