Faith in God is taking God at His word, that means holding on to that word that He has spoken to you, whether it sounds realistic or not, whether it seems possible or not. People don’t have a problem agreeing with how powerful God is, yet, I wonder why when they are faced with life’s challenges and trials, they hardly let Him intervene in their affairs.
Most times we tend to trust man’s words rather than Gods’ and this is not supposed to be so. Now that I have given a brief explanation of faith, let me explain further with this illustration… You know when an employer employs someone and they both agree on an amount the employee would be paid, the employee after starting the job, doesn’t begin to think, and wonder how the employer will pay him. Instead, he holds the employer at his word. This is how it’s meant to be with God.
Peter, on the other hand, is like those who have seen the awesome power of God and dare to take the risk but are however overwhelmed by the world’s reality.
(Mathew 14:20 – 32)… Just like I said earlier, people don’t have a problem agreeing with how powerful God is, rather they just fail to see His hand in their affairs. Look at the disciples, for instance, they saw and witnessed Jesus take five loaves of bread and two fish, thank God for them, and then multiply the meal. The meal didn’t just feed 5000 people; they had twelve baskets remaining….. Amazing right!! Well, hold on, because something better happened a few hours after that…
Jesus was seen by His disciples walking on water (this got them pretty scared)… At this point, Jesus said to them; “Don’t be afraid, take Courage, I am here”. Now you need to understand that this wasn’t said to Peter alone but to all the disciples present. However, it was only one person that caught the message and held on to His word (Peter). Then Peter after that, asked to join Jesus and Jesus invited him to walk with Him. Now, you need to understand also, that the wind peter later saw had always been there, while holding onto the Master’s words he didn’t see it. But as he lost sight of His word, as he started looking at the world’s reality over Daddy’s words, he started to sink.
Jesus never expected Peter to actually walk on water, but He expected Peter to walk on His word
So the disciples represent some of us( those who are too afraid to hold on to God’s words, those who feel it’s unrealistic, those who won’t dare take the risk even though they know it’s Daddy, and so give excuses). Peter, on the other hand, is like those who have seen the awesome power of God and dare to take the risk but are however overwhelmed by the world’s reality.
We need to trust Him more. Daddy is surely reliable, hold onto His word, you don’t need to see before you believe and then confess, you believe and confess before you then see… That’s how faith works. God’s word still works, so find your situation in His word and hold onto it till you see the manifestation of your confession.
Finally, you must understand something too, the issue wasn’t walking on water, the issue was God’s word. Jesus never expected Peter to actually walk on water, but He expected Peter to walk on His word; for it was His word that would have been able to sustain peter to then walk on water… Learn to walk on His word, and then you can walk on water (every situation). You can do it….. #fighting(😄😄😄)
