Pray that secret
Then Hannah rose after eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the temple of the Lord.
She, greatly distressed, prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.
Now it came about, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli was watching her mouth.
As for Hannah, she was speaking in her heart, only her lips were moving, but her voice was not heard. So Eli thought she was drunk.
Then Eli said to her, “How long will you make yourself drunk? Put away your wine from you.”
But Hannah replied, “No, my lord, I am a woman oppressed in spirit; I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have poured out my soul before the Lord.
Do not consider your maidservant as a worthless woman, for I have spoken until now out of my great concern and provocation.”
Just look at that:
Hannah understood the essence of pouring out her soul before God.
This was because he is and will forever be the only one who can save.
In life, we can get boxed in all angles, things happen to us that we may not be able to tell others, and then hurt piles up. Disappointments all around you, bad memories etc. but no matter how shallow, we discover that we lack the courage to tell anyone sometimes.
Good news; there’s someone who literarily never leaves nor forsakes you, he is there to keep you company, hear how your day went, teach you, correct you, comfort you, guide you. He is not only interested in the spiritual you, but he is in all aspects of your life. Tell him, cry to him. Don’t wallow in sorrow, he is there to ease your burden and break that yoke.
So what is prayer?- Well, prayer simply means communication with a superior being, in our case, Jesus. He is always there, even when you are confused about the basics, such as what to wear, don’t be scared to ask him, he is the best fashion designer(because he knows what will be the latest fashion trend), maybe am just kidding, but my dear friends, stop seeking comfort in man, pray that secret to Christ
Food for thought.
Someone once asked me,
“if God is always there why did he watch me suffer?”
My reply simply was, the Lord does not seek to hurt his children but sometimes the devil comes and wrecks havoc, then we pin it on God, and say: ‘God is punishing me because I did not do …’ (fill in the blanks😊) Meanwhile God has said he loves you no matter what you do or do not do. He remembers your sins no more; Hebrews: 8:12 – For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
God is a good God, rebuke the devil and he will flee, God has given you the power to do so.
When the car breaks down, don’t say God does not want you to go out, rebuke the devil, when temptations arise don’t say God is testing you, rebuke the devil for God does not tempt man.
As you go this day and beyond, remember that you can pray that secret, God is always with you and He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
