WHEN GOD ASKS YOU TO DO SOMETHING JUST DO IT

Key Scripture

Genesis 26:2

Then the LORD appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.

The story of Isaac in Genesis 26 is a very relatable story. Here was a family man in a land where there was famine. He did all his economic and financial analysis and deduced that the best thing for him and his family was to leave the land to Egypt. This was the best decision logically a man could think of, but then comes God, telling him to remain in the land of hardship. As the story goes in subsequent verses, God blessed Isaac and he sowed in that land and reaped a hundredfold.

Let’s rewind a bit to the part where God ask Isaac to remain in the land. Put yourself in Isaac’s shoes, would you have remained in the land of hardship? You see, there comes a time in our lives when God will have us make some decisions which may not “make sense”, but remember the bible says that the foolishness of God is wiser than the wisdom of man (1 Cor 1:25). This means that when God tells you to do something, do it! It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t matter if it goes against all the principles and laws you were taught in school, just do it!

Captain Naaman of the host of Syria, a man of splendor was asked by Prophet Elisha to go bath in the River Jordan. Naaman refused because he felt someone of his prestige shouldn’t bath in such dirty water. As we all know, the moment he dropped his pride and entered the Jordan, he was healed completely.

Dearly beloved, let’s learn to trust God. When dealing with God, forsake all that you know and take His divine instructions. Before taking a decision, ask God for His opinion on the matter, and whatever He tells you to do, do just that (John 2:5).

PRAYER

Dear Lord, I know you have got the best plans for me, please give me the grace to follow your instructions no matter the situation, Amen
