WHAT’S THE GOSPEL WAY?
Romans 12:9 – Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
People have over the years redefined severally what being a Spiritual man is all about. Many have defined being spiritual as endless sessions of prayer, some as endless sessions of bible study and others as fasting till one looks as lean as a broom stick, but all these definitions are somewhat incorrect. A spiritual man is one who is born of the spirit. The bible says “that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the spirit is spirit”.
Jesus is our role model, the Bible calls Him the Way, the Truth and the Life. The Christian way is the Jesus’s kind of way which is love. 1 John 4:7 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. God is love, and if we claim to be born of Him, we must be lovers ourselves!!! No amount of commandment we obey can replace the importance of loving our neighbors, our enemies, our friends. It’s funny how we do contrary to what the bible says about loving our enemies and those who persecute us. Galatians 5:14 – For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The Christian way is love, love, love. It’s not in hours of prayer or the other religious activities; these things are good but when love is not in one’s heart, it renders all these activities meaningless. Paul speaking in 1 Corinthians 13:1 says “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal”. Going back to our key verse, the Christian way is first of all love, only after we’ve loved will the good we do, and the evil we abhor actually count.
Dear Lord, help me to love others especially my enemies just as you have shown me love, Amen.
