How to Always Remain in the Faith – Being Consistent
2 Tim 4:3-4 – For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
Consistency is pertinent as pertaining to spiritual growth. Growing up, I often sang (and you should sing along now😂)
“Read your Bible, pray everyday (3x)
Read your Bible, pray everyday
If you want to grow”.
The song didn’t make much sense to me until a while ago. It instructs consistency as a key to spiritual growth; consistency in daily personal bible study, daily private prayer prayer sessions, daily meditations, daily practicing the gifts of the spirit.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.
As much as it is important to fellowship with believers as Hebrews 10:25 instructs, personal devotion times are also very important because we may not always find ourselves among fellow believers.
Here’s a remedy for you who’s struggling to do the word:
James 1:22-25; Joshua 1:8
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
When you consistently and daily feed on the word, pray, fellowship and ‘continue therein’, keep your eyes single and full of truth, you’ll surely see fruits.
Finally, be consistent with the gospel of Christ and also in the word. The gospel hasn’t and won’t change. Be careful of itching ears so you don’t deviate from truth. We stand with the fact that we’re forgiven and saved forever, we received righteousness as a gift of grace through faith, we house God till eternity and Jesus loves us steady. We keep believing these things because the word of God says so and God doesn’t change. For God loves you dearly and he’s able to keep you from falling. We call you blessed❤. Thank you Father for all you’ve done for me. I’m grateful for the new year coming and I ask that you help me remain consistent in the truth. I love you. Amen
