God is a Good God, and Only Gives Good Gifts
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Overtime, you begin to see that men have varying views and beliefs about who God is, and what God does. There are some who believe that He punishes us for our sins, failings and shortcomings. There are those who believe that He is responsible for all the evils we see in the world. Some believe that God made them sick either as a form of punishment, to humble them, or to teach them a lesson. Lastly, we must not forget those who believe that God sends the devil to tempt us, and take us through seasons of trial with the end result of making us stronger. We’ve looked at what man says, but let’s receive instruction and direction from God’s Word, and form our beliefs based on His Word.
James 1:17 says that good gifts come from God. Bad gifts do not come from God. Whatever can be considered as a bad gift cannot be from God. Therefore, sickness does not come from God. Poverty and lack do not come from God. Death does not come from God. If anything, Jesus came do destroy the effects of these things in our lives, and the power they had over us (1 Jn 3:8). God doesn’t give us sicknesses, no. Rather His heart toward us is that we be healed (Matt 8:17). God does not wish for any man to suffer in poverty and lack, but to walk in His divine provision always (Ps 23:1, Matt 6:33, Lk 10:24, Phil 4: 19). The earnest desire of God is to see you prosper, flourish and walking in the fullness of the life He has given (Jn 10:10, 3 Jn 1:2).
We see clearly that the evil works are not the works of God, and cannot be attributed to God. Rather, these things are of the devil. It is he who tempts us, not God (Gen 3: 1-5, Jn 8:44, Jn 10:10, Acts 5:3, 1 Cor 7:5, 2 Cor 11:3). God is good, and He gives good gifts (Matt 7: 9-11, Lk 11: 11-13).
Ensure you guard your heart with these truths. God is good, and He gives good gifts!
Lord Jesus, help me see the truth in your word, and see your goodness at all times
