Don’t Get Confused, There is Only One God
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Allah, Buddha, Zeus, Sango, Ogun, Amadioha. These are just a few of the ‘gods’ that exist in the world. It would seem that there are several Gods to choose from like a multichoice question where the individual is free to decide which of the Gods He will serve and revere. But the simple truth is that in these there is deceit. There is but one God (1 Cor 8:6). This is an undisputable fact. It cannot be debated, neither can it be contested. So what then have people been worshiping? Who exactly are these beings supposed to be? We see clearly from 1 Cor 8:4-6 that they are not actually gods, for there are not many gods, but one. Rather, men in their hearts have made them unto gods for themselves. In the hearts of some men, they have considered them to be gods like the children of Israel did (Exodus 32:1-4).
The molten calf in and of itself was not a god. The Children of Israel made it their God. We find the same scenario play out in Daniel 3:1-6. These are not actually gods. They are idols set up in the hearts of men.
How come then people call upon these gods by invoking their names, or performing a sacred ritual and see results? The answer to this is simple. Demonic influence is prevalent. They have allowed the devil an avenue to express himself and manifest in their environment. But fear not because for the believer- there is only one God in heaven and on earth (1 Cor 8:4, Mal 2:20, Eph 4:6). There is only one true God (Jn 17:3). Pay no mind to the gods of your culture, or those of popular folklore. There is but one God.
Lord, teach me to have my eyes steadfast on you, never shifting or taken away, but focused on your Lordship. Thank you for being God
