What is love?

Can we say Love is a “feeling” we have toward another person?…well, not quite!!!

Instead, we can say Love is a decision, a state of mind. Love isn’t a feeling, feelings fade away. Feelings depend on moods, love should not. God is love, love is God, therefore, it is safe to say that the attributes of love are the attributes of God. 1 Corinthians 13 talks about love. It implies that love is patient, kind; love is not jealous or envious etc. Love is beautiful when it comes from the right mind set (God). We have the ability to love because we have the father dwelling in us.

Who is my neighbour?

Your neighbour is someone that is directly or indirectly affected by your actions or omissions. It is not limited to someone by your side or within your reach; rather, it’s someone that you owe a duty of care or responsibility to.

Is it necessary for me to love my neighbour?

Matthew 22:39 “ The second is equally important, love your neighbour as yourself “ (NLT)

We have a duty to love our neighbour because Jesus instructed it. Jesus asked us to love our neighbour therefore we should love them, help and protect them when we can.

2 Corinthians 5:14, “either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life.”(NLT)

It is as a result of Christs love for us that we love our neighbour, it is also as a result of Christ’s love that we don’t do the things we used to do (old life), including acting unruly to our neighbours. As Christians we should know that the ability to love our neighbour comes from Christ in us.

We have to love our neighbour unconditionally just as Christ loves us. Our love for our neighbour shouldn’t depend on what they do or don’t do. We love them majorly because Christ being our example has shown us what it means to Love, and the instructed to do same. Also, we have the ability to love because Christ is in us.

God bless you

#pray

Thank you Lord for your love in my spirit (Roman’s 5:5) teach me Lord to walk in it, and show love to all, in my words and deeds, amen
