When The Odds Are Against You
Deuteronomy 20:1-4 – 1 ”When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. 2 So it shall be, when you. are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. 3 And he shall say to them, ‘Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; 4 for the LORD your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”
Many times in life, we go through situations which make it seem like the world is against us and at times we may think God has ‘forgotten’ us. Job was a man who went through something similar. His case was so bad his wife advised him to curse God and die, but Job refused because He knew His God. God was speaking to the Israelites in our key scripture and told them not to be afraid of the magnitude or size of their opposing armies, why? Simply, “for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.” This was their assurance, that God was with them in battle, not just to fight with them but He was surely gonna save them and give them victory. He was letting them know that He who was with them even though they could not see with their physical eyes was far greater than the armies before them.
When you’re faced with any situation or task that seems greater than you, hold on to the truths of God our Savior. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20 “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
He will never leave us or forsake us, no matter what may come our way, our lives are in His hands. As believers, we carry God in us, if God be for us, or we can say if God be in us, who can stand against us? No one! The Psalmist said in Psalm 118:6 “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?” If we can condition our mind to the very knowledge of the heart of God toward us, we will be able to face challenges and conquer them.
These challenges aren’t there to scare us but they’re there to strengthen us and teach us patience and endurance. As you go about your daily activities, know that the Lord is your God who goes with you, there’s nothing anyone or anything can do to you!
Dear Lord, thank you, I know you are with me always, I have direction in you, and I don’t hit my foot on any stone, Amen.
