Walking According To God’s Will
Matthew 6:10 – Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The Advanced English Dictionary defines “will” as a fixed and persistent intent or purpose. This is so true about will, God’s will is something that He has intended and cannot be changed no matter the
circumstances. He intended for man to be saved and the thought of losing His only begotten Son didn’t cause Him to waiver at this. He promised to make Abraham the father of all nations, which significantly was talking about us believers, but although Abraham made some mistakes, it never caused God to say “oh! Shoot, this guy is full of errors, maybe I can make someone more perfect the father of all nations”.
You can also consider His will to be His plan for our lives and the earth. The good thing is He never superimposes His will on us. He could have brainwashed mankind into believing in Jesus as the one and only Savior, yet He made us free to decide for ourselves. The bible says
for I know the plan I have towards you…
The plan; a definite plan or intention for our lives. He told Jeremiah
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
He had already designed Jeremiah’s life long before Jeremiah was even conceived. The same thing applies to us.
God has a definite purpose for our lives. It’s up to us to walk in it with Him by discovering what this will is in every situation, through prayer, we see an example in a disciple called Epaphras.
Colossians 4 : 12 – Epaphras, a member of your own fellowship and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. He always prays earnestly for you, asking God to make you strong and perfect, fully confident that you are following the whole will of God.
Jesus teaching the disciples to pray in our key scripture pointed out that heaven is were Gods will is fully expressed, but we need to pray, that on earth, Gods same will can be done and seen. Brethren,
it is very possible to live a hundred years on earth, attend all the Sunday services and make all the wealth that you can ever think off and still not walk in the perfect will of God for our lives.
Romans 12:2 says “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
There’s a perfect will of God for us. The world has designed a pattern of life for people to follow which mostly revolves around going to school, earning good grades, getting a job and an endless cycle of trying to amass wealth which have no use in eternity. These things are good but there’s something God desires for us to achieve which are greater than these things. Don’t let the world dictate for you. Don’t let the world put you in a box and say if you’re not doing this or that, hence you’re not successful. Spend time in prayers and study of God’s word so as to
know and understand His will for you. Oh! How happy and fulfilled we will be when we find out that we’re walking in line with God’s will for us.
Dear Lord, I submit myself to your leading, I don’t want to do anything outside of your will, so help me God. Amen.
