The Greatest Proof of God’s Love
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 4:10 – Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
There is a popular song we were taught in Sunday school and it goes thus:
‘Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so’
Many people have said in the past and are still saying “God does not love me”. Most times their reason for saying this is based on things they’re going through, or negative occurrences in their lives. Maybe they see their peers ‘doing well’ financially while they aren’t as buoyant, this gets them feeling upset. If they sang that song again they, would realize that the only way to affirm God’s love is to see what the word (the Bible) says.
Our key scriptures tells us that God loves us. He loves us irrespective of who we are; righteous or unrighteous, tall or short, black or white, fat or slim. The verses also illustrated the depth He went to prove His love for us by sending Jesus to die for us and become the propitiation for our sins.
Propitiation is the action of appeasing someone. Propitiation is an action meant to regain someone’s favor or make up for something you did wrong. You might offer your brother or sister a box of cup cakes in propitiation for destroying his or her clothes. This was what Jesus did for us on the cross. He bore our sins, took the punishment and appeased God so that we would no longer have to face the wrath for the sins we committed. Remember in elementary school how you were spanked or punished for disorderly conduct, just imagine someone bigger than you stepping in and receiving the punishment on your behalf. Jesus did this for us, Hallelujah!
The bible says in John 15:13
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Anytime you feel God doesn’t truly love you because you are not rich for instance, look-up John 15:13. No love is greater than that which would involve one person dying for someone else. Jesus died for us so that we would have eternal life. The things we go through; sickness, pain, hunger are just part of life. They happen to everyone but Jesus gave us His peace so that we will be calm when in the midst of the storm. Dearly beloved, God loves us so dearly, don’t let the devil convince you God loves you any less. Stay blessed!
Dear Lord, thank you for the love that has been shared abroad in our hearts, each day, I choose to walk in your love now and
forever more, Amen.
