Don’t Be Discouraged – God is in you

Key Scriptures

1 Corinthians 1 : 25 – This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

2 Corinthians 12 : 9 – Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Weakness – were Gods power works best. This is what apostle Paul was pointing at, he was giving us a charge to depend on Gods ability, Gods leading, God’s direction to carry out the work of ministry (preaching and teaching of the gospel). In earlier verses leading on to 2 Corinthians 12:9, apostle Paul had spoken about some of the struggles that he encountered while trying to take the gospel message around the world.

2 Corinthians 11:23-25
[23]Are they servants of Christ? I know I sound like a madman, but I have served him far more! I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again.
[24]Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes.
[25]Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea.

That’s to name a few. Paul however acknowledged that these did not come from God.

2 Corinthians 12 : 7 – even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.

He called these occurrences, occurrences that came via a messenger of Satan. Well it wasn’t a surprise to him, he already knew that such things would happen to him (look-up Acts 9:15-16). However at some point he complained, he said he had cried to the Lord that these occurrences stop, but then God gave him a peculiar answer, and it’s that His strength is seen best in weakness. Now He’s not saying that we shouldn’t eat anymore, or take care of ourselves, He is simply saying that if we depend on His own ability for direction and leading then we will see His strength, and if we keep on depending on our senses, we would only keep on making mistakes.

In life in general, we may not have it all figured out, Paul knew that he was to preach the gospel as God’s chosen minister, however he didn’t have the full blue print, things only got clearer as he moved on, the devil was bound to resist his efforts to preach the gospel through human resistances. In fact this would most likely happen to anyone who is effective in preaching the gospel. But in it never depend on your senses, always trust in God for direction. Trusting on your senses could be extremely disastrous, and may even cost life. Gods strength in seen most in that weakness of yours (your inability to know tomorrow), depend on Him and pray for His direction.

“While Writing this, I received a Psalm in my Spirit- you can say it as a confession”

When you feel weak he makes you strong
We’ll preach the gospel on and on
From darkest days till shining nights,
We’ll preach the gospel on and on

#pray

Thank you Lord because I know you live in me, and are guiding me, I receive your leadings, amen.
