To See God, Look At Jesus
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?
I’ve seen many Christians search for revelations about God, and it’s hinged on a desire to know God more. This is very good though, but I’ve realized that many people are searching for more of God in the wrong places. And this has led to people making poor decisions or bringing up erroneous doctrine, that supposedly came from the “Spirit”, don’t forget that teachings can come from demons and strange Spirits too.
1 Timothy 4:1 – Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.
So where should we search for knowledge about God. Well our key scripture tells us something really important, Jesus said “if you have seen me, you have seen the Father”. This means that to see God, you look at Jesus. Jesus is the express image of God.
Colossians 1:15 – Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation….
To know God, look at Jesus. And where do we find Jesus? Let’s see what the word says.
John 1:1 – In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
To see Jesus, look at the word, in the bible, you’ll see Jesus revealed to us, and in the new testament, you see God revealed through Jesus.
Luke 2:32 – He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!”
Jesus revealed who God is to us. God is love (look-up 1 John 4:16). He wasn’t seen as love before Jesus came, but He came and revealed the true nature of God. To know God, look at Jesus, and to see Jesus, check out the word…in it you’ll find peace and comfort in the Father.
I find peace in the word, and I see Jesus. My eyes are opened to see truth in the word, amen.
