Can You Call Yourself a Saint?

Key Scriptures

Romans 8: 1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit”

Romans 8:10 “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

Ephesians 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”

Ephesians 2:19 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;”

A saint can be defined as one who is sanctified or made holy, a person who is separated unto the service of God. Being in Christ has qualified you as saints, this has nothing to do with past mistakes or the fact that you lied two weeks ago. Reading about Abraham in the bible, he believed in God and that was imputed unto him as righteousness, he was called a friend of God. God has called us unto righteousness, he has made us holy and by this we are holy. We are sanctified in him and that is why we should live the kind of life that is pleasing to him alone. We accept the qualification God has given us by faith. We see in Romans 4:3”For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness”.

You must not die and resurrect to life to be called a saint, neither must it be that you have never sinned in your entire life, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God but we have been justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!! He has washed all our sins. We have been and can be forgiven. God does not see us based on sins of the past, his mercies are new every morning. Self-condemnation should not stop us from adopting the name God has called us. We are citizens of heaven, we are saints even here on earth. God is willing to help us overcome any struggle and addiction. Why? Because he loves us. In the bible verses above, we see that believing in Christ is key. We have to remain in Christ Jesus as he will keep us holy and blameless.

Read Romans 8:1-39

Sweet Jesus, thank you that I am a citizen of your kingdom, I am so grateful you died for me and you have called me righteous, holy and a saint. You have washed me in your blood, I love you God, thank you Abba father.
