All Have Sinned, But!!!

Key Scripture

Romans 3:23-24
[23]For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
[24]Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

Digest

If you read preachdigest regularly, you’ll notice that it focuses a lot on the new nature we have received, on who Jesus is, and on our righteousness as believers. You may wonder, what about sin!? Why don’t you talk about sin. Well is sin a good thing? Of course not, infact it’s of the devil, and glory to God once we believe in Christ, we are redeemed from it.

Since it’s of the devil, it shouldn’t be a focus for believers, and even when we take a look at it, we see it from the angle that we have overcome it, and should therefore live in victory over it, not as though we are still slaves to it. Honestly speaking, if talking about sin could end sin, sin would have been ended a long time ago.

Today however, we are to focus not on what is off the devil, but on what has come through Christ.

Hebrews 12:1-2
[1]Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
[2]We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

This is our focus, Christ, we are to keep our eyes on Him, that’s even how we grow and live daily above the desires of our flesh. Here Christ is called the champion who starts, and finishes our faith. This shows we aren’t alone, He starts this faith within us when we believe, and He keeps it firm till the very end. Isn’t that awesome?

“All have sinned” has become somewhat of an anthem to many people, the scripture is true, but that verse wasn’t intended to be the focal point, the very next verses show us the reality we have now.

Romans 3:24-25
[24]Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
[25]For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,

This is what the very next verse says, this is what we should be loud about, that through faith in Jesus, we are declared righteous by God Himself. The sacrifice Christ made on the cross is powerful, very powerful and by believing in this alone, we are saved, glory to God. Focus on this, let it sink in, that’s what God desires we do.

#pray

Thank you Jesus for the sacrifice you made on that cross. I choose to focus on what you did, and to grow in it. Amen
