Who is a Holy Person?

Key Scripture

2 Timothy 1:8 – So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.

Who is a holy person? Or what is a holy thing? Being Holy means to be sacred and to be set apart for special use. It’s not an achievement however, but it’s simply that call every believer has, every believer has been set apart for God’s work, that is telling others about the gospel of Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1:30 – God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin

We see here that through Christ we have been made Holy and purified for God’s use. Our key scripture highlights the length and breath of the task assigned to a holy person. To unashamedly tell others about Jesus and what He did on the cross, in fact Paul speaks about He not being ashamed of this message.

Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile

And here he explains why he wasn’t ashamed, and why we shouldn’t either…its simply because through faith in this message people are saved, people are assured of a new life on earth and beyond the earth as a result of this message, if you believe this then you shouldn’t be ashamed to speak this message everywhere and at everytime.

However, for this message, you may be persecuted. Its a message of joy, but some people may dislike you for it. In our key scripture apostle Paul speaks about his experience, he was jailed at the time for this message and urged Timothy to be ready to be persecuted as well, it’s the nature of the message you carry, and the task you have been given, it’s supernatural and saves lives, so those who don’t want to see lives saved or who don’t believe it would be against it. Timothy also experienced something similar.

Hebrews 13 : 23 – I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released from jail. If he comes here soon, I will bring him with me to see you

Being Holy is not a gateway to comfort, but a call to serve. Being Holy is a privilege

2 Timothy 1:9 – For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.

You see here that being Holy is a privilege, not that we were deserving of it, but through grace, we are made Holy. Acknowledge the task being Holy demands, and carry it out despite the discomfort, glory in your call…you’re called to live a holy life.

Thank you Lord for the gift of being called Holy, it’s a privilege and I honor it. Teach me to carry out the task being Holy demands, amen.
