Be Ready To Unlearn and Relearn

Key Scripture

1 Timothy 6:3-4
[3]Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life.
[4]Anyone who teaches something different is arrogant and lacks understanding. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, division, slander, and evil suspicions.

Sometimes, we may get it wrong during Bible study, or simply be running on impulse from some exciting concept about Jesus we heard in the past that is not true. Either way, in one way or the other, or at one point or the other, we may believe and subsequently speak about things regarding Christ, the gospel or Christianity that are not true. Of course it’s not a good thing, but it happens sometimes, however, whenever presented with such errors, by others, or during Bible study, it is wisdom to let those false precepts go.

Many people find it difficult to do this, and most of the time, it’s simply the manifestation of pride, and it can be very dangerous. Paul speaks about the effect of such pride, it can lead to slander, evil suspicion and unnecessary arguments. Arguments for one are just a pain, it wastes time, and doesn’t eventually pass any message across. However, it’s necessary we know that whenever we get corrected about wrong ideologies we have, it’s most likely going to be from people, and not from some spiritual being.

2 Timothy 2:25 – Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth

We see Apostle Paul here encouraging Timothy to instruct those who oppose the truth, this means that the instructions, though godly, will come from a man, Timothy. We need to understand this as well. Some people refuse to believe truth, owing to the fact that they are expecting to hear a supernatural voice instruct them first. Not quite, God will correct you through the people around you.

Learn to drop bogus ideologies like hot potatoes, and believe the truth when you hear it, it’ll do you so much good and help out in your spiritual growth.

Thank you Jesus for my growth, I know I’ll keeping growing and getting better in my knowledge of you, amen
