I’ve Got the Fruit of the Spirit, What Next?

Key Scripture

Galatians 5:22-23
[22]But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
[23]gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Whenever I see this scripture, there’s this joy that springs up within me. It reminds me of the good work that God is doing in me to bring out the best out of me according to His will.

Philippians 2:13 – For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him

God has done a good work in us by giving us a new nature that is characterized by the Holy Spirit. Every believer has this new nature, however, Apostle Paul tells us the kind of fruit that the Holy Spirit in us produces. God in you produces some amazing fruit, and they are outlined in the key scripture.

We need to realise that it’s beyond memorizing the verse, I’ve met some folks who can recite the fruit of the Spirit, it’s a beautiful thing, and I respect those who can, but they were not supposed to be memorized, but lived. Every fruit you see outlined there is to be demonstrated by us because now we have the ability to.

In several parts of scripture, you’ll see the apostles express these fruit and encourage the believers to express them too. So when you see the fruit of the Spirit, your response should not just be excitement, but a desire to put them to practise. Tell yourself, you can love and you will love, tell yourself, you’ll express joy and express joy. You are a patient person, and you are kind. You are also a gentle person, that means you aren’t rough or haggard, but gentle; it’s your nature now.

That’s the good work God has done in you. Remind yourself of them and put them to practise. The more you practise your new nature, the more your mind and body adapt to it, through Christ’s strength. These fruit are spiritual, this means all these attributes are completely who you are, you need to tell your mind and body this, and you’ll see yourself living in their reality. Live the fruit of the Spirit, it’s in you now.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your good work in me, teach me to express this good work to the world, amen.
