How Much Does Salvation Cost?

Key Scripture

1 Peter 1:7 – These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world

It’s high time we realise that our faith, that is our faith in Jesus is far more valuable than gold. Sometimes, we try to relate what Jesus did on the cross for us, as well as our faith in Him to His ability to provide for us, but in doing that we belittle what Christ actually came to do.

Can Jesus provide for us? sure, of course He can. He has the ability to do so, and He will, in fact, apostle Paul told the Philippian church that God would supply their needs…however, trying to relate salvation to provision is a huge injustice to what Christ has done.

1 Peter 1:18-19
[18]For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value
[19]It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God

You need to see that what Jesus did on the cross is extremely valuable, gold can’t even be used to measure it’s value. So there are two things to note. One is that your faith in Jesus isn’t just for provision, it’s for salvation, and salvation is more valuable than anything this world can offer, meaning that once you have faith in Christ for salvation, you have the most precious thing of all, and guess what? it lasts forever.

Finally, understand that the things of this world would perish, they are supposed to perish, but what Christ had done for you on the cross, it’s value is eternal. Glory to Jesus.

Romans 14:17-18
[17]For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
[18]If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.

Lord teach me to not be covetous, but to see true value always in what you did on the cross, amen.
