When Jesus Said His Purpose
John 10:10 – The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Jesus being the good shepherd was very stern when he spoke about His purpose, He was very clear about what it was too. His purpose from what we see in our key scripture is very direct and relatively straight forward. His purpose was to bring life.
Why did He need to bring life anyway? well, the issue was sin. Man’s nature was now that of the devil, and it basically rendered man dead, in a state were understanding God, or being able to relate with Him was impossible.
Ephesians 2:5 – that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
You see that word life popping up again. Christs death was for that purpose, and that purpose only, that men will be able to receive life when they receive Jesus, life that’ll help them be able to know God for who He truly is…a loving Father.
It wasn’t even your fault or mine that sin became a problem, it happened way before us, it was from Adam, that’s why your actions are not what made you or anyone else a sinner, but being born into the world was all it took, however, Jesus has made life available, our Spirits are alive again through Him.
Romans 5:12 – When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned
Now this life isn’t just ordinary. It’s a special kind of life, a life you can’t lose, it’s supernatural life, physical life has an end, it’ll end once the physical elements wear off, but supernatural life, it stays with you forever, that’s why the real you, I mean your Spirit, in Christ is always going to be alive even when your physical self dies.
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!
Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life
There you have it…one thing you must know is that receiving this life is by faith, how else could you have received it, you can’t afford it, it’s so expensive it can’t be priced, that’s why it’s acquired by grace through faith. And guess what, you can’t lose the life, you can’t lose what lasts forever. Glory to Jesus if you believe in Christ you are walking in His purpose.
John 3:16 – “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life
Thank you Jesus for your gift of eternal life I have received. To those who haven’t, let the gospel reach them, and give them boldness to receive, amen.
