One Cross, Three Nails, a Crown, and What They Mean to a Christian
Key Scripture
Galatians 3:13 – But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
Digest
The cross of Christ is so powerful, it’s one thing that I’ll forever remain grateful for, because it was on that cross that Christ did the ultimate exchange. He took our curse, in Himself and died with it, so that we can live free of that curse.
The curse being spoken about here isn’t a hex put on us by some witch doctor, but it was talking about the effect of Adams fall. Adams fall brought a curse on the world, and that curse was that we bear the nature of sin, the nature of the devil. What is a curse? It’s basically an occurrence that constantly or permanently goes against a natural order. So if a person is cursed, a natural occurrence that should happen in that persons life would then become distorted.
By nature, we were designed to be carriers of God, but the nature of the devil came in as a curse on humanity, a curse that had a punishment attached to it, which is death…but glory to Jesus, the curse, that nature of the devil was put on Jesus for our sake, He took the curse on the cross, and it is the greatest act of love ever expressed, which brought salvation from that curse to the entire world.
Galatians 5:24 – Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there
On that cross He took your curse, that sinful nature, He nailed it there, and guess what?…He then called you blessed.
Ephesians 1:3 – All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ
He gave you a new nature that is a blessing and not a curse. Just put your hand on your chest and say to yourself, I am blessed, I am not cursed. Thank you Jesus.
