The Life I Now Live

Key Scripture

Romans 6:13 – Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God

Jesus rose again to a brand new life, and because of this we are confident that we also have a brand new life. This new life is called eternal, that is eternal life, it’s a life that never ends, and a life you cannot lose, that’s what makes what Jesus did unique, the assurance that we have eternal life even after we leave this body.

This new life also means that we are free from the power of sin. Our key scripture explains that we were once dead, that is our spirits lacked the ability to produce good, but now our spirits have received life. This new life gives us the ability to do good, to live above sin, so we are to express consciously the fruit of our new nature. We don’t lie, or steal, or cheat, those were the fruit produced by our old nature. Sometimes as you grow in this, you may make mistakes. This does not take eternal life out of you, or change your nature again, but it shows that you need to keep on growing and putting in effort to express the fruit of your new nature.

Romans 6:14 – Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace

The sin nature is gone out of you as long as you believe in Christ and His work on the cross for us. Sin is no more your master, you are free from that nature to live a new life with a new nature. The old nature made it impossible to do right, and the law capitalized on that and gave instructions that were impossible for us to keep with the old nature. But now, we are free from the old nature and the laws rules. We live freely, doing good easily from our new nature. We live in love, and this guides the actions we take, such that we learn daily to live above sin.

I am a new creation, free from the old nature of sin, and alive to Christ. I live above sin, and my behaviour gets better daily as I live on this earth, glory to God, I am free.
