God Asked Me to Tell you…

Key Scripture

2 Timothy 3:14 – But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you.

God said to me…God told me…the Lord said I should tell you…there are many more I can’t remember at the moment, however, these are very popular and important phrases used by a lot of believers to relay a supposed message from God to a person or people. First off, is it possible for God to speak to people? of course. God can and still speaks to people, He can also relay a message to you through someone.

Acts of the Apostles 11:28-29
[28]One of them named Agabus stood up in one of the meetings and predicted by the Spirit that a great famine was coming upon the entire Roman world. (This was fulfilled during the reign of Claudius.)
[29]So the believers in Antioch decided to send relief to the brothers and sisters in Judea, everyone giving as much as they could

That’s an example of a message from God to the church, so yeah God speaks. However most people take advantage of the fact that God ministers through people and begin spreading false messages, just plain inaccurate messages based mostly on feelings or human lusts. Well thank God we weren’t left blind, but we have a yardstick, a way to determine if a message could be from God or not, and that yardstick is the word.

In our key scripture, Paul was making this clear to Timothy, telling him to never loose sight of the word, but to always trust it’s integrity to gauge anything relating to Christ. A word that comes from the Spirit would always be in line with the word. God will never say for instance that He is angry with you, talk more send such a message to you through someone.

Isaiah 54:9 – “Just as I swore in the time of Noah that I would never again let a flood cover the earth, so now I swear that I will never again be angry and punish you

Ephesians 2:3-5
[3]All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
[4]But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
[5]that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

The word confirms this. So if anyone says God asked me to tell you He is angry, then you can immediately dismiss it. Folks, let’s place our guard up, and let the word have the final say.

Thank you Jesus for the word, I believe what it says, and I am what it says I am.
