Love For God is a Gift from God
1 John 4:10 – This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins
It’s funny how, when you look at the Christian faith closely, you make little or no input to what God has done to ensure that we are saved, the only input we make is to basically believe in what Jesus did on the cross. From the dying to the resurrection, it was all God’s plan and God’s work, and that is the only thing that saves us. That’s why no one can boast about being saved, or claim that they made some input into their salvation, it was all God, and we love Him for that. Sometimes, it’s easy to boast in the fact that we love God, beat our chests and say that “I love God”, probably even make comparisons, say, “I love God more than you do” for instance, however, even our love for God is a resultant effect of His love. By design, we didn’t even love God, or anything God related, as a result of our dead Spirits, but we can now love God because God and given us life in our Spirits through Jesus.
Our love for God is also His gift to us, and His gift in us. So whenever I say I love God, I am actually saying God loves me, and He has given me the ability to love Him to. I am saying that God has put His love in me so I can love Him too, not even of my own strength, but His love working in me.
Romans 5:5 – And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love
God’s love in us, is also the ultimate gift, it not only gives us the ability to love like God loves, it is also evidence that God in person of the Holy Spirit lives in us as well. I have God’s gift in me.
Thank you Lord for your love and for living in me, I acknowledge your work in me, and I live daily as a testimony of it.
