A Troubled World, and the Peace Christ Provides
Key Scripture
Mark 4:36-40 (NIV)
Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.
37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped.
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

It’s exciting to know that Jesus is real and that He was fully man when He walked the earth. His actions and response to situations were phenomenal, and He showed us that ours can be too. From our opening text, we see that Jesus was sleeping in a storm, a storm so crazy the boat was nearly swamped. I’ll say that again, Jesus was SLEEPING on a cozy couch, his head on a nice soft pillow and he probably had a nice blanket to cover himself with while the storms were raging. He wasn’t perturbed, he was unflustered, he definitely was at peace. Wow!
His disciples on the other hand were quaking in their boots, they thought they were going to die. They probably lost sight of the fact that the same man that was doing amazing miracles was the one in their boat, but that’s not my point today let’s focus on Jesus our hero 😭
Guess what now, Jesus said in John 14:27 New Living Translation (NLT)
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
The same peace Jesus displayed he has bequeathed to us. Hallelujah!
This wasn’t some farewell motivational speech, it was a statement of fact. We can be calm like Jesus. Galatians 5:22 tells us that we have peace in our spirits.
We should always respond to situations with a calm confidence why? Because Jesus has overcome the world.
John 16:33 (NKJV) – These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
2 Corinthians 2:14 “…thanks be to God, who always gives us the victory in Christ…”(NMB)
Be of good cheer saints, God always had your back, He loves you ❤
#Pray
