Never Be Ashamed to Preach the Gospel
Key Scripture
2 Timothy 1:7-8
[7]For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
[8]So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News
Digest
This is the same truth for every believer, the Spirit we have received is the same.
1 Corinthians 12:13 – Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit
The same Spirit that lives in you, lives in me too, and we can see clearly from our key scripture that that Spirit is not of fear, but it’s of power, love and self-discipline. Don’t forget that this Spirit lives in you forever, just like Jesus promised…
John 14:16 – And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you
…and since this Spirit is always in you, it is always quick, and active, and ready to function at every time required. This means that you are always full of power, love and self-discipline. It’s important we know this, especially when we head out to preach the gospel, sometimes we feel intimidated, or uncoordinated, however, we need to always remind ourselves that those are physical emotions that will fade, the truth is what we have in our Spirits which last forever.
Don’t be scared to tell others the gospel, because this is how people get saved, in fact the only way people get saved. So we are equipped, fully equipped for this.
2 Timothy 1:9-10
[9]For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.
[10]And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News
Sometimes, our situations may make us feel like we do not have what the word says we have, perhaps you are in jail, or you are sick, or not so rich…you may begin to feel as though what the word says is in your Spirit, you really do not have. Well don’t forget that Apostle Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter, yet, he said the Spirit -we- have, is of power, love and self-discipline. It’s in your Spirit no matter what the physical part of you says. Don’t be ashamed to preach the gospel, you have boldness, and the message we preach (the gospel) is timeless.
