Gospel People are Faithful People

Key Scripture

Luke 16:10-11
[10]“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
[11]And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?

Digest

I heard something really interesting from someone. The person was speaking about how our focus as believers should be the things that pertain to heaven, as those things are eternal, that is a very true statement, however, looking at the persons lifestyle, I noticed that he paid so much attention to growing in his knowledge of the word and praying, but spent little or no time growing his business, or working. The effect of this would be obvious, he’ll keep getting better spiritually, but may not be able to pay his bills, which is a position no one would want to be in.

However, let’s see what the word says about this. Verse 11 of our key scripture says something really profound:

[11]And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?

If we are going to look at that statement from a different perspective, it’s saying “you can know those who truly value heavenly riches, by how they handle earthly riches”. This means that for a believer, your knowledge of the riches you have in Christ would spur you to be even better at your work. God is not against the physical, don’t forget He created the physical, the earth, the animals, etc. and He made them for us and put them in our authority. Being a believer is not an excuse to be unfaithful at work or responsibility all in a bid to grow spiritually, in fact it’s the other way round, you will be spurred to work better.

[10]“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

Let’s say the little things are the things of this world, and the greater responsibilities are the things that pertain to the Spirit, you’ll notice that this scripture plays out a lot among believers. Most times, when you see a believer who seems to be very active in spiritual activities but isn’t faithful at work, on closer investigation, all the spiritual activity you see them do is all just that, “activity” without any actual growth. It’s not always the case though, but most times it plays out that way. We know you truly value Spiritual growth when we see you put in effort in your Spiritual life as well as your earthly work. Be diligent at both, it’s all in line with Gods will

#pray

Lord Jesus help me to be able to wisely be diligent at all I do, amen.
