Humility is How We Receive From God

Key Scripture

James 4:6-7
[6]And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
[7]So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Digest

“God gives grace to the humble”, this is a really powerful statement, and before we look at receiving from God, let’s take a look at the above statement. We need to understand first of all that God isn’t sitting back and waiting for the next proud person to resist, or the next humble person to supply grace, He is extremely loving, and is ready to supply all you need at every point in time, however, it is in your place to either receive or not receive…and this is were receiving from God comes in.

God is always ready to supply, but sometimes, we are the ones who are not ready to receive from Him. When a person is proud, the person literally resists whatever is offered, so God resisting the proud simply means a proud person won’t even want to receive from God, and a humble person receiving grace simply means the person had always wanted to receive.

How do we know if a believer is humble? Well, since it’s toward God, you already know its not by calling Him nice names, like you would a man, but it’s shown in one major spiritual activity, and it’s prayer, a believer who prays shows humility, depending on God for help, and direction. Humility is, you rather pray for direction from a higher power than make a decision on your own. A believer who is humble would also trust the integrity of the word above his or her own assertions…that’s humility.

[7]So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you

If you resist God, you can’t resist the devil, so be humble, trust God and experience an awesome life receiving from Him, like our key scripture says, you’ll receive grace, that is things you don’t deserve, and can’t attain on your own, those things you get in prayer…be humble.

Thank you Lord for teaching me to be humble. I walk in humility daily, amen
