Rejoice in the Lord

Key Scripture

Habakkuk 3:17 – 18 ~ 17 Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,  yet I will rejoice in the lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

Philippians 4:4 – Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Digest

In the final days of Jesus on earth He told the disciples:

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

In this world, we’re going to go through different trying times. The Christian life isn’t devoid of trials and tribulations, it’s not a constant “high” but we have been equipped with the “peace of God that surpasses all human understanding” for such times. An average man is constantly looking for happiness. How can we truly find happiness when we don’t know the source of happiness.

The world comes with temporary form of happiness in things like money, alcohol, drugs, illicit sex and the like. For us as believers, Joy which is a fruit of the spirit (our spirit) isn’t found in things. Joy is part of us, it’s part of our nature just as Love, patience, etc are all part of our nature. So in whatever circumstances we find ourselves, we must choose to be thankful and rejoice in the Lord. It’s something we should do at all times, whether in good or bad situations, whether the circumstance calls for it or not, in little and in much, be thankful.

A very good example to follow is the Apostle Paul, despite everything Paul went through, he never for once complained about His predicament. This was because his joy was in the Lord, he understood what he had in Christ, he knew that tribulations would surely come and knew the right response to give when they did (Joy).

Dearly beloved, just as Paul encouraged the Philippians, I encourage you today to always rejoice in the Lord. God bless you!

#pray

Dear Lord, You’re not a man that You should lie, Your promises are yes and amen, I’ll always rejoice in You, in good and in bad times, Amen.
