The Good News is Not that Jesus Died, but that He Rose

Key Scripture

2 Timothy 2:8 – Always remember that Jesus Christ, a descendant of King David, was raised from the dead. This is the Good News I preach

Glory to God He is alive, and we can’t emphasize this enough. I’ve heard a lot of people make bold assertions in the fact that Jesus died, but the truth is, if He died, and never rose, that means that He was defeated, and all the claims that He made, about the new life we will receive, and about us having a comforter would have been a lie.

In our key scripture, Apostle Paul is very emphatic about the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and that was the gospel that he preached. Believing in the truth that He rose also automatically means that you believe in His death and burial. If there was no death, then there could have been no resurrection, however, it’s in His resurrection that we are confident of eternal life.

Jesus promised us eternal life through Himself.

John 3:16 – “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life

However when Christ died, if He did not rise to prove that He also tasted of that eternal life, then His claim would just be bogus. However He did rise again, and was seen by many witnesses, that’s why the word says this:

Romans 8:29 – For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters

He is the first born because He rose and Has tasted eternal life, and we can also partake of it today, and are sure that when we die, our Spirits would also live eternally.

Romans 6:4 – For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives

Glory to God, Jesus has risen from the dead, and I have a new life in Him because He is alive.

I died along with Christ, and I rose again with Him, I believe this, and I affirm it, amen.
