Who’s Life is the Best and Safest to Imitate?
1 Corinthians 4:16 – So I urge you to imitate me.
As Christians, we should be very aware that our sins have been forgiven. However, faith and works actually work hand in hand. We have been justified by faith to God, but to men (human beings), they see our physical works. So concerning the question we often avoid, which is “Are our works important?” well yes our works are important.
It is also worthy to note that in Salvation, our spirit gets saved but our flesh and mind do not get saved. This is why our minds constantly need renewing (Romans 12:1-2). With this in mind, we can fall short of OUR expectations, not GOD’s expectation. God is forever pleased and satisfied with us.
On this note, a question would most likely arise, and that question is “Who do we imitate?” I have tried to show that our works actually do matter. So, if we are to imitate someone, it would be someone sound in conduct, i.e in good works, who would spur you to do good works as well, and train you along that line. The right person to imitate would be a spiritual father or mentor. Your spiritual mentor is your pastor or your leader or someone you are accountable to in terms of your spiritual growth. Every good disciple looks up to their spiritual father. If a disciple does otherwise, it would not be advisable. Looking elsewhere for a role model is not a wise decision to make. So, if you are in need of a role model, I’ll encourage you to look to having a Spiritual mentor who will help you get better at doing and expressing good works.
Father I thank you for my Spiritual mentor, teach me to remain loyal and ever learning
