Wisdom From Above
James 1:5 – If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you
Proverbs 3:13 – Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding
Proverbs 2:6 – For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding
Throughout human history, human knowledge has failed at times; not because of a lack of in-depth research. There are so many things that the human mind cannot comprehend; nevertheless we’ve made great strides in different fields of life. Wisdom is the ability to apply this knowledge in actual practice. Both Solomon and James acknowledged that wisdom can be gotten from God. We cannot do everything by our own power, skill or ability. We need wisdom from God.
Solomon is described as the wisest King that ever reigned. Other Kings and Queens came from far and wide to consult and hear his wise counsel. Queen Sheba was so astonished by the depth of his knowledge and wisdom. Where did he get such wisdom from? Was it from reading much books and listening to grey bearded men? No! It was from God. We can pay people millions of dollars to teach us things, but God is offering us His wisdom for free. We can’t do without Gods leading in our lives. We can see the wisdom of God in scriptures when we read them and feed on them. His word makes us wise! Job said that the inspiration of the Almighty gives understanding and it is written in the book of Proverbs “give me understanding and I shall live”. Do not sideline God in any decision you want to make. He is interested in all that concerns you. He knows all for He created all.
Finally, a wise man isn’t one who knows what to do but one who applies wisdom in all he does.
Dear Lord, please give me wisdom for living that I may not fail, in your work, and in my endeavours, Amen.
