Walking in Wisdom – Part 2

Key Scripture

James 1:5 – If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking

We’ve been on a wisdom series, and have discussed how important wisdom is, the source of our wisdom as believers, and how we can walk in wisdom, if you haven’t already, you may want to read the last two digests before reading this one. You can find them here and here.

Our key scripture speaks volumes about one important way we can walk in wisdom, and it’s through prayer. WeIl someone’s probably thinking, “but I thought the other digests said we’ve already got wisdom, so why are we praying for it?”. Well the truth is prayer is an enabling factor, you have wisdom, but you are asking for God’s help to walk in it. If you try to do it on your own you would make a lot of mistakes, reason being that you have received wisdom in the Spirit, however, you still have an unsaved mind that’s is constantly being renewed.

1 Corinthians 1:30 – God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin

The scripture also tells us that Christ has been made holiness for us, and righteousness as well, but let’s see prayers that were prayed in scripture regarding these.

Colossians 1:9-10
[9]So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.
[10]Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better

Isn’t that awesome, they’ve already got righteousness, and holiness, but then still need to pray for God’s help, so that they get to walk effectively in it. In the same way, you’ve already got wisdom, however praying for it, is you humbling yourself and asking God to help you walk perfectly and effectively in it. Glory to God.

Thank you Lord for your wisdom at work in me, I pray that you strengthen me to walk and keep walking in wisdom in Jesus name
