Can God Really Save?

Key Scripture

Matthew 19:26 – But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Romans 8:31, 35-39
31 what shall we then say to these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us? 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.   38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How can a God who claims to love the world unconditionally sit back and watch as men (mere mortals) destroy it and get away with it? Where was God when a group of terrorists wreaked havoc on churches in Maiduguri, Nigeria? We can ask several of these type of questions and the answer will still be “He was there with the victims in the storm”. We are bound to go through really tough times as long as we’re on the earth. Even Jesus said that in this world we will go through trials and temptations but He assured us that He will be with us always. Trials come in different forms; some may lead to death and some may not lead to death. Whatever the case may be, one thing does not change, and that is the fact that God is with us.

There are several cases of God’s people being persecuted, from Job in the Old Testament to our beloved Paul in the New Testament. In fact it was Paul who said in our key scripture “if God be for us, who can be against us?” He also assured us of something I feel every believer must note and commit to heart, that nothing, absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of God. The devil will try very hard to break us; he might succeed with our bodies but no way is he breaking our Spirit’s. Dearly beloved, no matter what is thrown at us, we will fight this good fight of faith, we will for the glory that is set before for us endure whatever suffering that comes our way and when the mockers ask “can your God save?”, we will answer boldly “Yes He can, In fact He Has Saved us already”.

Dear Lord, thank you for loving me unconditionally, give me boldness to stand for you in the days of adversity for I know You will surely deliver me, Amen.
