When the Devil Tries to Stop you

Key Scripture

1 Thessalonians 2:18 – We wanted very much to come to you, and I, Paul, tried again and again, but Satan prevented us

You know many people don’t believe it’s possible for the devil to try and stop their activities, especially when it comes to doing God’s work in ministry. Well I really don’t fault or blame anyone who doesn’t believe it’s possible, because when the devil tries to stop you, it doesn’t look like the devil is doing anything. All you see is things either going bad, or situations not working as they should, or you just see “life” happening, so it all seems normal, but when we look at the word, we see that the devil can influence things or try to resist people from accomplishing certain goals.

Remember when Jesus cast out the devils from the mad man of the Gadarenes, the demons requested to move into some pigs and they did, when they did, they ran the pigs into a river. On the outside, all you’ll see is a group of swine running toward a river, anyone who sees it would think the pigs are being chased, or something spooked them, but the word tells us that it was demons. I remember I’ve had a similar experience with cattle, the herd ran towards me with so much energy, and I knew they’ll knock me off my feet, I stood firm and commanded them to stop in Jesus name. They stopped just in from of me, and I discerned at once they were influenced by something else, most likely demons.

Even when it came to Jesus, the word says:

1 Corinthians 2:8 – But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.

Acts of the Apostles 2:23 – But God knew what would happen, and his prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed him to a cross and killed him

So what seemed like an angry mob just trying to kill Jesus was actually the devil trying to stop Him though it helped fulfil His purpose anyway. In our key scripture Apostle Paul speaks of how Satan tried to stop him. Satan didn’t appear with a gun to stop him, but Satan influenced people and situations to stop him.

So how do we stop the devil, because if we can’t, then we would be at a huge disadvantage. Well Iet’s see what the word says

Ephesians 6:16 – In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil

We overcome the devil through faith, and by faith, I mean trusting God. The devil is Spiritual, so only spiritual means can keep him at bay, we should have faith in God, and trust in His ability to keep us. One way to show faith is in prayer. When we pray, we ultimately show that we trust Gods ability, because in prayer, we give God the permission to handle our situations, so if things begin to appear odd in your life, pray about it, and rebuke the devil, you can rebuke him, and God would see to it that the devil flees.

James 4:7 – So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you

I speak to the situations in my life to work for good, and I command demonic influences to flee my path, because I trust Gods ability, amen.
