Can You Speed up Your Spiritual Growth?
1 Thessalonians 4:1-2
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.
For you remember what we taught you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
Growth is an essential part of every humans existence. Parents desire more than anything to see their children grow, and you can imagine the distress a parent would experience if they witness their children not growing, either as a result of an illness or some other factor. God is our Father, and just like earthly fathers desire to see their children grow, likewise God desires to see us, His children grow.
In scripture, we are encouraged greatly to grow and keep growing:
Hebrews 6:1 – So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God
I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly,
asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
1 Peter 2:2 – Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment
God desires that we grow, and keep on growing in Christ. It doesn’t happen in a day just like physical growth, but regular consistent efforts put toward your growth would surely yield excellent results.
Parents aren’t just excited when their children are growing, but when they are growing at the right time, and pace. Imagine how awkward it’ll be if a child starts walking at twenty (20), you’ll definitely suspect there’s a problem because it shouldn’t take that long. We should take our Spiritual growths serious. In our key scripture, Apostle Paul encourages believers to live as they were taught even more, meaning you can increase the intensity of your actions, which would in turn spurt your growth. So you can study the word more, and even pray more. It helps your growth a lot. It’s God’s desire and will for you. Keep at it, and experience all Christ has in Himself for you.
Lord, strengthen me to grow and keep growing in you. Teach me to always focus in knowing more about you in my daily affairs, amen.
