Gods Own People

Key Scripture

Romans 8:31 – What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

Understanding this can make a huge difference in the life of any believer. Many Christians don’t know that God is for them. They still see God as being against them or even actively fighting them, but they need to understand that they and God are on the same team. If you are reading this right now, and you are a Christian, be confident that God is on your side…you are not even a substitute on Gods team, you are an active player with Him.

Our key scripture mentioned something really profound, that proves that being on Gods side comes with some awesome perks. A question was asked, “if God is for us who can be against us?” That means that if you are on Gods team, then you are forever on the winning side. This gives an assurance, that no one can accuse you before God to usurp your salvation, God is for you, and no one can stand against you before Him.

2 Corinthians 6:16 – And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people

I want you to take note of that phrase there: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God and they will be my people”. That sounds very personal if you ask me, and it’s coming directly from God. It’s like when a father says “this is my child”. There is a sense of ownership, of possession; it’s the same when God says “my people”, you are very personal to God, and He takes you very seriously, He won’t attack you, else that defeats the purpose of He being on your side, however, He will guide you, lead you, protect you, encourage you and correct you, but definitely not attack you or destroy you.

There’s a really awesome scripture we should look at:

Psalms 105:24,28
[24]And the lord multiplied the people of Israel until they became too mighty for their enemies.
[28]The lord blanketed Egypt in darkness, for they had defied his commands to let his people go

Again we see that phrase, “his people”. The story of the Israelites leaving Egypt is a good example of how committed God is to protecting His people. He basically almost wiped out an entire race because of His people. The Israelites then were like a model nation that showed God’s relationship with man, just that then they were one nation, and the covenant they were under was based on the law, but they were Gods people non the less, and God was committed to protecting them. Well guess what? You are Gods child now, you are His own, and He sees you as a part of His plan for the world. You are on His team, and He is on yours.

Colossians 1:13 – For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son

Thank you Jesus because I know you are on my team, and I am on yours. Teach me to always remember that, and to be confident in your love for me, amen.
