Remember Who you are
1 Peter 2:9-10
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
“Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.”
Two things should happen at the end of this digest. You should remember who you are in Christ, and you should also remember how much you mean to God.
Our key scripture is a very popular one, but it’s richness cannot be over emphasized. It tells us exactly who we are in Christ. A chosen people, a holy nation called forth to show God’s goodness. Notice something really interesting there, we have been called to show God’s goodness, God is good, but He is showing His goodness through people, you and me, maybe that’s why sometimes people may have a bad impression of God, because folks don’t represent Him properly, well that’s not our point today, our point is, you need to remember that you are Gods representative, called to show others God’s goodness.
When we speak of God’s goodness, we need to understand that it’s beyond being a good person. Truth is, you don’t have to be Christian to be a good person, any moralist could be a good person, though being a good person is a fruit of the transformation that has taken place in you, it does not completely reveal God’s goodness. God’s goodness is seen in the process that leads on to what enables us be transformed. God’s goodness is seen in the gospel message, and we have been chosen by God in Christ to reveal this goodness to the world.
2 Corinthians 5:18,20
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
We are Christ’s ambassadors. Verse 10 of our key scripture said “once we had no identity, but now we are Gods people” God sees you as an extremely valuable asset, and He takes you very personal. It doesn’t get better than this. Never forget who you are.
I know who I am in Christ, and in faith I’ll live to reveal God’s goodness to people daily, amen.
