Safeguard Your Faith
Philippians 3:1 – Whatever happens, my dear brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these things, and I do it to safeguard your faith.
Our faith is being attacked daily…it’s your faith against the world. In the world you’ll encounter false teachings, experiences that seem to contradict what the word says, human disappointments etc, and that’s why we need to safeguard our faith.
Safeguarding our faith does not mean taking some kind of spiritual lock to protect or faith, but it means ensuring that at all times you still believe the truth, and you still trust Gods word. This is very important because if you believe something false, then you’ll never receive the full benefit of the original. A good example is in healing, many people believe all sorts of things about Gods healing, many beliefs that the sicknesses they have came from God, and because of this false belief, they fail to receive healing. Some people may have even lost their lives as a result of believing a lie, so it’s important that daily we safeguard our faith.
We also need to understand that for the sake of the future generations, we need to safeguard our faith. There is no new and there would never be any new gospel, however if we aren’t careful about what we believe, we may believe lies and then teach it to others which would in turn teach it to more people and then the lie spreads. So we should learn to always stick to the word. It never changes with time or season or with the “new rave”, but it remains the same, no double interpretations, but a singular meaning to drive Gods intentions.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 – For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.
They will reject the truth and chase after myths.
Do you see that? this is more reason we need to safe guard our faith. Keep listening to and reading the same things that build your faith up. Keep your heart steady on His word, and you’ll live a blissful life in God’s truths.
Thank you Jesus for the truth in your word. Help me stand stronger and stronger in these truths amen.
