Put The Word To practice
Philippians 4:9 – Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you
The Bible is a literal gift to humanity especially to the body of Christ. Whenever I personally see God’s truths and I see all the goodness there is in Christ, I am always in awe at how much loved I am, and I believe I am speaking for every Christian out there.
However, in the word we get to see instructions for believers in order to help guide the believer in Christ through his/her growth journey. Like our key scripture says, following these instructions would help you experience the “peace of God”. In order words you will be able to fully experience all that Christ has done when we heed and follow these instructions. It’s really easy to read them and feel excited, but the true value of the read is in the actions carried out afterwards. See what Jesus said about those who only listen but don’t take action:
Matthew 7:26 – But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand
He was emphatic about this. He likened a person who hears only and doesn’t take action to a person building a house on sand. He has a house quite alright, but it’s on sand and it’ll be of no value to him because the worth of the house is not in the edifice, but in its ability to keep the inhabitants safe, and it’s the same with scripture, it’s worth is not in the beautiful structure of the text, but in the practise of the wisdom and instructions found in them.
James 1:22 – But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves
Gods word is to be practised not just to be heard. Not practising it for a believer would be rather foolish just like James said. You have an awesome guide to experience all there is to experience in Christ on the earth, but you reduce it to a novel, and still complain that you are not experiencing Christ well enough. Heed to Gods word, practise it daily and experience the fullness of Christ in your life.
Lord Jesus teach me to always put to practise what I see in the word, amen.
